City Hall Festival - Spring "namul" & local specialty goods

Today was another library day.

It was drizzling a bit and was hurrying my way to the building, then saw the "Spring Namul & local specialty goods festival" taking place.

They were putting things together as the sun came out.

There were a few huts selling specialty goods, from kimchi, health food, honey..etc.   About 2~3 vendors were selling "sweet goodies" like sweet potato baked goods.

But most of the vendors were of "health goods" from veggies to kimchi.

But how much?

a scene after the rain

It wasn't as exciting as it looks - most of the local goods are "special" - meaning on the pricier side.
But it also had a few huts that were selling bundles of "namul", veggies, and plants.

The festival is good until the 28th this month.

FYI:  The City Hall library where PSY filmed a scene in his new single, "Gentleman".

the "stairway case & reading spot" in City Hall Library

But please do not imitate this scene there, you most definitely get "shhh"ed...
Even today - on a rather quieter day at the library- they had an announcement on "to be quiet and respectable" and a few staff were walking around to "shhh" the noisy ones.

I wonder how hard they have to work on the weekends to keep the place quieter - because the last time I visited it on a weekend - it definietly was not a "library quiet", but was a day care/couple on dates/study groups/friend meet ups - all taking place.

Gwanghwamoon closed street & performance

Closing of the streets across Kyungpool Palace in Gwanghwamoon (Jongno) area was very intriguing!  We weren't the only ones that were excited about such scene, but many gathered to take photos on the closed street.

Later ,we find out that it was for some festival that was being held by the city.  There was a weird performance I talked about earlier of blue faced men and weird music.  We stuck in for a while until the performers started putting a show that I didn't quite get...  I didn't want to get spit with blue colored water, so we got out fast before they could even try.

You never know what you will come across in Seoul!

Blue faced performers - Gwanghwamoon

It was a very interesting night.  Hubby and I decided to meet up in Gwanghwamoon for dinner and we stumble upon this.

A bunch of blue faced performers on the middle of the closed street in Gwanghwamoon.  Drinking blue colored water and spitting it on the crowd.  Live band and weird music.  Strange.  Very strange.  Maybe I've been reading too much on the "zombie attacks" at home.

We parted away from the crowd.  The performance was...Uncomfortable?!  Anyways, at least we got to have dinner and got home safely without any zombie scare :P

No cars on the street - Gwanghwamoon

What are the odds of 8+ lanes being closed in one of the busiest roads in Seoul.  This is right down the street across from the KyungBook Palace.  People got to walk all over the street.  No cars, closed street,  It was like a scene in a movie... more about this later!

Chung-gye-chun stream

Sometime around earlier this summer on Buddha's birthday.

LOCATION:  Gwang-hwa-moon station, exit 5.  Walk straight and at the end of the block and right across is the stream way.
